This calculator is designed for a simple question—“How old am I?”—but it can also answer more detailed date questions. It gives a calendar-based age in years, months and days, shows the weekday of birth, estimates the next birthday countdown, and converts the date difference into larger totals such as weeks and hours.

If you need to know your age on another date—for example, an exam eligibility date, a school admission cut-off date or a future birthday—change the Age on Date selectors before calculating. The birth date must not be later than the selected comparison date.
Age is not the same as simply dividing the number of days lived by 365. Calendar months have different lengths, and leap years add an extra day. For that reason, the calculator first counts complete calendar years, then complete calendar months, then the remaining days.
For example, a person born on January 15, 2000 is exactly 25 years old on January 15, 2025. On February 20, 2025, the same person is 25 years, 1 month and 5 days old. This calendar method matches the way age is normally written on forms and official applications.
The first date can be changed from today to any supported comparison date. This is useful when an organization says an applicant must be a certain age “as of” a particular date. Instead of estimating from the current year, enter the exact cut-off date and your date of birth.
The calculator supports historical and future comparison dates within the date selector range. The result reflects the selected date, so it can answer questions such as “How old was I on June 1, 2020?” or “How old will I be on December 31, 2030?”

The weekday is calculated from the Gregorian calendar date. This can be a useful reference for personal records, birthday planning or simple curiosity.
The detailed result also converts the elapsed time into several total units. These totals answer a different question from calendar age. For example, “25 years, 1 month and 5 days” is a calendar age, while “about 1,309 weeks” is a total-duration view of the same interval.

When the comparison date is today, seconds can update live. When a custom comparison date is used, the detailed totals remain fixed to that selected date.
A leap year normally occurs every four years, except century years that are not divisible by 400. That is why February has 29 days in 2024 and 2028, but 2100 will not be a leap year.
For a February 29 birth date, this calculator uses February 28 as the anniversary date in a non-leap year for its calendar-age calculation. Legal rules can differ by country or purpose, so an official agency's rule should be used when age has legal consequences.
People commonly need an exact age for school or college admission, job applications, competitive exams, insurance forms, travel documents, sports eligibility, retirement planning, birthday milestones and family records. A date-based calculation is especially helpful when a form asks for age on a cut-off date rather than age today.

The main age result uses calendar dates rather than your exact time of birth. That is appropriate for most everyday age calculations. Total hours, minutes and seconds are therefore estimates from the start of the selected dates, not a record of the exact time you have been alive.
